About International Junior Science Olympiad:
Since 2004, the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) competition has been held in different countries. Participation in the Olympiads gives opportunities to young talented students from all over the world to share experiences and face challenges in solving science problems. It is considered an honour to any country if certificates and medals are won in this highly competitive examination. According to the guidelines of IJSO, each nation could send a team consisting of six (06) students who are fifteen (15) years or younger on the 31st December of the competition year. This year International Junior Science Olympiad Competition (IJSO2011) will be held in Durban, South Africa from 1st – 10th December 2011.

In IJSO, the contestants have to sit for two theory papers which include questions from Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Apart from this, there will be a practical test which consists of one or two experiments.

The IJSO Organizing Committee will cover the official expenses for the team, including meals and accommodation during the official period. However, travel expenses between Sri Lanka and Durban, South Africa will not be their responsibility. Therefore the students proceeding to Durban should be able to find funds to buy their air fare. The registration fee for the participation in IJSO will be provided by the National Science Foundation.
